31 Days Captured: Day 3

It has been a day of traveling. I passed through/arrived in five states today, including Michigan and the Detroit airport, where today's photo was taken.

I'm sure there's a technical name for this tunnel that connects two of the terminals, but we (my dad and I) just call it the psychedelic tunnel. Today it seemed to be happy to stay this turquoise color (which I liked), but normally the colors change and music plays.

I've passed through this tunnel for years. As a high schooler, I passed through it on my way back to Dallas to visit my friends. As an adult, I've passed through it going to and from my home. And for a random location in an airport, it somehow holds a lot of memories for me. I knew it would have to be today's picture when I realized I'd be walking through it once again.

Friday Picks

Here are this Friday's picks! This week I tried to collect one or two different things each day (well, Monday through Thursday) to present today. I'm thinking that once I really get going with this, I'll have more things to share. In the mean time, if you have any suggestions for sites/stories/blogs/pages/etc. that should be shared, please pass them on!

31 Days Captured: Day 2

Today marks the end of year 32. Thirty two years, 11,688 days, three states, two kids, 72 birthdays, four dogs, one doctorate. Scraped knees, moving vans, graduations, potty training, art projects, date nights, driving lessons, tears shed, hugs and kisses, Halloween costumes, hellos, good-byes, road trips, board games, pet frogs, movie nights, car accidents, job interviews, Bible verses.

What makes up 32 years? The milestones, the day-to-day, shared convictions, promises kept. Good times, bad times, hard times, silly times. Long talks, quiet moments, trust, patience, faith. Loyalty, strength, honor, courage.

Thank you for 32 years. They mean so much, more than one person can say in a blog post, or with a photo of then and now. But what can be said is that those were 32 years well spent.

Now it's time for 32 more.

31 Days Captured: Day 1

I found this sitting on the windowsill outside my kitchen window on my covered porch. I thought it was kind of interesting since birds don't get in there often (although a bat was living there for a while).

I got to thinking about what the "story" was behind the feather. Was it dropped accidentally by a passing bird? Was it a gift carefully placed for the recipient? Was it lost, then found and set aside? I like to think it wasn't random. Some how, the feather got there on purpose.

I loved all the little details, from the grey shades of the feather, to the blue of the window sash, to the chipped paint of the sill. It was perfectly placed, and had to be captured before it could be blown away by a passing breeze.

And this picture is proof that you can get decent photos from a cell phone when you're hurrying back to work after your lunch break. :)
